Exponential response electrical pole-changing method for a five-phase induction machine with a current Article

Jia-qiang YANG, Rong-sen YIN, Xiao-jun ZHANG, Jin HUANG

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2017, Volume 18, Issue 8,   Pages 1151-1166 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1601728

Abstract: Electrical pole-changing technology leads to torque ripple and speed fluctuation despite broadening thedual-plane (d1–q1 and d2–q2) vector control method, which allows the IM to operate under different poleCompared with the step response pole-changing with PI control method, the proposed pole-changing methodgreatly reduces the torque ripple and speed fluctuation of the IM during the pole-changing process.Experimental results verify the exceptional performance of the proposed electrical pole-changing strategy

Climate change and China’s mega urban regions

Chaolin GU, Sunsheng HAN

Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering 2010, Volume 4, Issue 4,   Pages 418-430 doi: 10.1007/s11709-010-0075-5

Abstract: China’s mega urban regions are focal points of economic development and environmental concerns. This paper positions four mega urban regions (i.e., the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, the Bohai Bay Area, and the South-eastern Fujian Province) along China’s coast into the national economy and elaborates their development challenges and planning innovations. Mega urban regions in China are spatial consequences of rapid economic transition. They deserve close scrutiny and demands for innovative planning responses in order to maintain their key role in driving economic growth but limiting their greenhouse gas emission.

Sensorless direct torque control for salient-pole PMSM based on extended Kalman filter fed by AC/DC/AC

Frontiers in Energy 2012, Volume 6, Issue 3,   Pages 247-254 doi: 10.1007/s11708-012-0190-1

Abstract: In this paper, a new sensorless interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drives method with extended Kalman filter (EKF) for speed, rotor position and load torque estimation is proposed. The direct torque control (DTC) technique for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is receiving increasing attention due to the important advantages of the low dependence on motor parameters when compared with other motor control techniques. The Kalman filter is an observer for linear and non-linear systems and is based on the stochastic intromission, in others words, noise. The PMSM is fed by an indirect power electronic converter which is controlled by a sliding mode technique. The simulation tests performed for different operating conditions have confirmed the robustness of the overall system; and it is shown that the sliding mode technique has successfully minimized the different harmonics introduced by the line converter.
